Merely finished using POR 15 on my the entire underside my car trunk. I must say it brushes on very dainty & I am very happy with how it came out. However when I read the insructions for using at least 3 times I failed to come across that they reccomend wearing cloves when applying production & at present that I'g done I know why, it only will not come off of your pare, I've tried mitt cleaners, paint thinner & gasoline with "ZERO SUCCESS" unbelievable, in my 42 years I have never e'er ever had something I could not go off of my hands.

And so DOES ANYONE KNOW OF ANYTHING THAT Volition Accept POR-fifteen OFF OF SKIN? ? ?

Cheers in advance...NWSOONER

PS I did a POR search and read several posts merely nothing dealing with clean-up excedpt the onw that said "it won't come off until it wears off vii-xiv days".

Our God is in heaven He does whatever He pleases.

Other than a painful relationship with some 80 grit and a chugalug sander I'thou afraid you will exist wearing gloves and long sleves for until Thanksgiving!
I but hope you didn't become whatsoever on your confront otherwise you may demand to get your wife to share some of her makeup!
I've heard other similar stories with suggestions of total trunk coverage before applying. Basicly any you don't want POR15 on cover up.

Hey everyone cheers for the idea's but nothing worked, I fifty-fifty tried thinner immediately after finishing job. I too went to habitation depot & they sold me some wicked stuff that smelled similar it would accept off anthing just information technology did not stage POR15 on my hands....POR ought to make it more than clear about using gloves...nail polish remover & other stuff is not working either. Hey Pro-street great to hear from you even if its a laugh at me I'm cool with it. Unfortunately I never made it back home this year or I would accept looked you up. This is a well known problem with POR, they do have some warning near this only it's probably not potent enough.

Always clothing some decent elastomer gloves, either nitrile or thick latex with this stuff. No grocery shop latex gloves, they aren't good enough.

Actually this is merely another reason to forget POR-xv and do it the right style - boom it or use metal prep, prime with etch or epoxy.

As well if yous are ever tempted to spray POR-fifteen (a mistake), clean your spray gun extremely well or you lot'll accept to throw it away. Also don't get POR-15 overspray on anything you want to keep.

I remember the best bet for fixing the por fifteen on peel thing is to gild a pint of the accordingly flesh toned pigment and cover it upwards until it wears off. That stuff is tough. I had a quart and used part and stored part. It stayed liquid because I used some saran wrap. I had to do some serious impairment to the can and lid to reopen it though.

NWSooner,

i judge hearing your story fabricated me laugh considering it fabricated me look back at all the things i accept gone through on my automobile that go out a mark on you lot- one way or another. the sacrifices we motorcar nuts get through are kind of astonishing if you think about it. Look at it this mode....if someone mentions the por15 on your easily it volition requite you an alibi to proudly say "yep was working on my 55 Chevy" nuff said..not everyone is lucky plenty to be able to say that. the terminal major matter i did on my 55 was get the roll cage fitted, tacked into place, and so bankrupt information technology all downwardly for the next stage. I have been focusing on my career (working like a dog to pay for all my parts) and doing trunk piece of work in my spare time. i'll try to update some pic's onetime..the muzzle looks too cool. your car has got to exist about done at this point, i can't wait to see it painted. por15 hands or non-you have done a great task Jay...that machine kicks butt.

be good.

If I'm not mistaken, POR-fifteen has a slight corporeality of Crazy Gum in information technology, or at to the lowest degree the components that make Crazy Glue what information technology is. That'south why if you lot use POR-15 and get the pigment in the lip of the can and so put the lid back on, forget ever getting it dorsum off. Information technology is now permanently glued there forever. I recollect that'due south what makes this stuff so indestructible when used in our applications.

Now with that being said, I think there are products out there that will release the Crazy Glue from between your fingers and the screwdriver you picked upward just after you lot used the gum. Maybe some of that remover will loosen upwards the POR-15 to give yous some relief.

Non that this will assist you now, merely years ago I learned a great pull a fast one on for getting stuff off your hands after the fact. It takes an ounce of prevention to go information technology to work though. Take you average garage store waterless lather and utilize it liberally on your hands, all over. Use as much as yous can and only keep rubbing it into your peel until it disappears like hand cream. Don

Dan, I assume yous are referring to "super glue" or cyanoacrylate adhesives. Loctite sells a product to remove this stuff, the active ingredient is nitromethane (believe it or not). It will do a scrap to remove agglutinative that has set but not fully cured, but information technology'southward actually all that effective. Not all that adept but the only thing that does anything. I don't know the detailed chemical science of POR-15, but I do understand that it contains know some kind of cyanates. This is some other danger of POR-15, similar to the danger of catalyzed paint, y'all shouldn't be breathing the fumes at the risk of your wellness, the fumes will brand you lot sick, and this can have lingering furnishings.

I have no idea whether the nitromethane will remove POR-fifteen from your skin, simply even if it does, it would just be immediately later contact, not later it's been in that location a while.

Welcome to the POR-15 brotheren!

Just call back of that dainty glow your skin will have afterwards all that scrubbing.

For me it is always a learning experience....Paint on hands, wear gloves.....paint in eyes/contacts, wear glasses....blowing black snot out of your olfactory organ for a week, wear respirator. Some of these I knew ahead of time but laziness prevailed.

For the next time...If y'all spray this stuff WEAR A RESPIRATOR!!! I take a goatee and my respirator doesn't seal properly and after spraying this stuff outside I will exist cough and hacking for a couple of days!

I just used POR 15 on a set of A-arms this weekend. I used gloves and was very careful - didn't get whatsoever of it on me. HOWEVER, (and in that location's always a "however") long after taking off the gloves, I had to go something off of the workbench right side by side to where the A-artillery were drying. I must have brushed up against one of the A-arms with my blank skin, but I didn't find at the fourth dimension. Adjacent time I washed my hands, I knew exactly what the blackness marks beyond my knuckles were!

I'll be wearing some POR-15 for a few weeks, I guess. But like someone mentioned earlier, it's kind of a bluecoat of honor...

NWSooner, I have to preface this with the fact that I am Italian and take oily skin (are you all done laughing?) so if yous accept dry skin this might non work for you. I stumbled on a solution for getting POR off my easily while beingness a domestic husband.

I received a auto seat from a friend that was so dingy information technology was too disgusting to let my son use, so I decided to wash information technology. It took nigh 45 minutes to get it clean and my hands looked like prunes from being in h2o for then long. But guess what? The POR came off my hands, I'one thousand sure the water simply helped the top layer of peel to come off, but the lesser line is it worked.

Try soaking your hands in dish detergent for a while (half hour or so) and I'll bet it will come off.

Five things that you cannot recover in life:

* The Stone after it'due south thrown
* The Word after it's said
* An Occasion afterwards it's missed
* The Time afterward it's gone

I had the same trouble with a contact lens. Information technology was a "soft" lens and rather than discard information technology, I put it in the case with contact cleaning solution and after soaking for a week or so, the dot was floating in the solution. Maybe information technology will work for you as well!

Okay Guys one final follow upward hither....One reason I was going a little crazy with the POR on peel dilema is that in my line of work filthy hands do not look to good, you encounter I am an insurance broker and am meeeting with clients & or prospects all the time. Therefore finally in desparation late Sun night subsequently the SOS PAD scrubbing I decided to soak my easily in bleach which I must say had a pretty good result looks wise but the pain was very excruciating to say the least.

Sometimes I'm a real idiot! ! ! Anyhow cheers for all of the replys making this a dandy thread with lots of good laughs...next time I will definately wear gloves & buy the Por thinner.
